• How does Skyecandy work?

• Error: "Doh... Skyecandy can not access Skype. Please check you are logged into Skype and your status is not offline" when you check-in to speed date. How do I correct this?

If you get this error, first check if you are logged into Skype and your Skype status is Online. If you are, the Skype icon in your task bar should look like this:



If the Skype icon on your task bar looks like this,



your status is set to Offline. Skyecandy will not be able to access Skype.

To fix this, please change your status in Skype from Offline to Online.

To change your status in Skype 3.x, in the Skype menu go to File Menu -> Change Online Status and select Online.

To change your status in Skype 4.x, in the Skype menu go to Online Status and select Online as shown:



If you have done all these steps and still get an error, contact us using Skyecandy's Contact Us.

• Error: "With Skyecandy, you registered a Skype name ... but currently you are logged into Skype using ..." when I check-in to speed date. How do I correct this?

You get this error message if you are logged into Skype with a different Skype name to the one you registered with Skyecandy. To fix this, logout of Skype and log back in with the Skype name you gave Skyecandy.

You may also get this error if you have entered your Skype name incorrectly during registration. It is common for users to misspell their Skype name or enter their display name as their Skype name. To fix this, you need to give Skyecandy your correct Skype name.

To find your correct Skype name in Skype, go to Skype menu and click Account.



You will see a window similar to the image above (Skype version 4.1). This window shows your actual Skype name in the places highlighted. Now that you know your correct Skype name, type it into the field shown in the Skyecandy error page and click Update. This will update your Skype name with Skyecandy.

• When is the best time to speed date?

Use Skyecandy's Interactive Map on your member's area at www.skyecandy.com to see Skyecandy's most popular times of use for different countries by rolling over them. Popular times are also conveniently converted to your local time. So if you are in Australia and want to speed date with singles in Spain, use the Interactive Map to find out Spain's most popular speed dating time, your time.

• What should I do if a speed date is disconnected?

You can try to re-connect the speed date by pressing the "Reconnect" button in the Skyecandy window as shown.

• Skyecandy says I am on a speed date but the video call never starts in Skype. What should I do?

This is probably due to an error in the Skype connection with the other member. You should shortly see a connection error page, where you can click on "Reconnect". This attempts to call the other member again. If it fails a second time, the other member may now be unreachable. You will have to give this date a miss and wait for the next date to begin.

• What should I do if a speed date partner's behavior is inappropriate or abusive?

You can manually disconnect the call using the Skype 'End Call' button. Please Report all inappropriate and abusive behavior using the Report Abuse available in your Skyecandy member's area. You can also block any members in Skyecandy and in Skype if you need to.

• What is the difference between Online now and Checked-in statistics?

Online now tells you the number of male and female members who are logged into their account at www.skyecandy.com or in the Skyecandy Skype Extra. Checked-in tells you the number of male and female members who are actually checked-in ready to speed date.

• What happens after all my dates are complete?

You can Review your votes. This means you can change a Yes to No vote or vice versa. You can add to your Reminder Notes and you can send surprise P.S. notes to someone you voted Yes to.

To check your speed date results, you can login to your member's area at www.skyecandy.com and click Results at the top.

• If I voted yes to a speed date partner, how do I know if a date was successful?

At Skyecandy, a date is successful if both you and your speed date partner have voted Yes to each other after the date. To check if a speed date was successful, login to your member's area at www.skyecandy.com and click Results at the top. All successful dates will be listed here.

• How do I stop receiving SMS messages from Skyecandy Message Service or all messages from a specific successful speed date partner?

You can only receive SMS messages through the Skyecandy Message Service if you have given your mobile number in your Account details. If you do not wish to receive SMS messages from any Skyecandy member, login to your members area at www.skyecandy.com and click All About Me. Next, click on Account Details tab and press the Edit button on the bottom of this tab. Delete your mobile number here and submit.

You can stop receiving Skyecandy messages from a specific member you have successfully dated with by blocking him or her in your Results. To do this, login to your member's area at www.skyecandy.com, click Results at the top, find the member you want to block and click the Block button in their mini profile. You can unblock a member later on if you wish, or delete them.

Remember you can also block him or her in Skype, if you have exchanged Skype contacts.
